The Best Jiu-Jitsu Search Engine in the World
This is an older piece of footage of me and my buddy Nick Albin aka Chewjitsu or Chewy. He has hands down the best Jiu Jitsu channel on YouTube.
This was filmed well over a year ago now at his Jiu Jitsu academy in Louisville called Derby City Martial Arts.
Obviously Chewy is a much bigger and stronger and younger guy than me (not to mention that he still actively competes), so he’s not trying to murder me here which I really do appreciate!
I know a lot of you ask for rounds of me rolling with black belts all the time, but it’s actually kinda hard to find black belts that don’t mind having rolling footage available. So here’s an opportunity to do that, with Chewy’s permission of course. 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Black Belt vs Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt
I’m really lucky to have built some great friendships over the years through Jiu Jitsu and travelling and I really do think Chewy is just the cream of the crop. He’s a great guy, with very good technique and he’s a winner in all aspects of his life; business, Jiu Jitsu, and personal.
Hope you guys enjoy, and be sure to check out my free course on how to stop getting smashed on bottom position here: https://bmac.mykajabi.com/stopgettingcrushed

Remember the last time you were on the Jiu-Jitsu mats (if it’s been awhile maybe not – but we can try ๐คฃ? Think of your last wrestle, technique or even drilling session.
Did you throw on a submission where the hips need to be elevated or manage to do a hip escape to get out of a bad position?
It’s no wonder the hips become tight as we ask them to do everything they can do when we are on the BJJ mats. From bridging to escaping to rolling to shrimping – everything they can do.
Try out these stretches that focus on stretching primarily the outer hips. These tend to become very tight as a result of all the hard work they do for us, from stabilizing when we walk to playing a massive role in movement on the BJJ mats.
Let us know how these stretches go ๐ค

In today’s video I share a powerful armbar that I’ve been using during BJJ training for the last 6-7 months. The armlock is also super sneaky because it doesn’t use the normal grips of most armbars in Jiu-jitsu. I also show some details on how to hide your grips a bit. Again, the purpose is to use different grips that the person is unfamiliar with so they don’t feel it coming. . . until it’s too late.
In Brazilian Jiu-jitsu I call this idea “flying under the radar” and use it whenever I can. You can breathe new life into BJJ techniques simply by changing the grips you use to set it up.
This will be the 1st video to start an ongoing armlock series from side control that you follow on the channel. This is one of the areas I’ve been working on personally so I figured I’d share some of the things that have been working for me.
If you’d like to learn more about the series join the wait list here: https://www.chewjitsutraining.com/Arms-Race-Signup
Hope the technique and ideas are useful to you.
Thanks for watching.

Today’s Q&A Chewy Ramble video I answer a question from a Purple Belt named Nick who’s moving into the role as an assistant coach. He says his game is focused on sweeping but he knows he needs to teach other things to his students so they can progress.
So his question to me is about how to teach moves you’re uncomfortable with as a new Brazilian Jiu-jitsu coach.
In this video I give some ideas as to how I teach and how I taught as a new BJJ coach. How I show techniques I’m not the best with but how they’re still useful to the students. I also talk about the ideas and usefulness of having a rotating curriculum as well as some general philosophies on being a coach in Jiu-jitsu.

10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Black Belt Brandon Mccaghren demonstrates The Stomp, which helps to make the transition from the Lockdwon half guard to the Butterfly Guard. Very reminiscent of the sweeping style of butterfly guard you see from Jean Jacques Machado.
