The diving back take is often seen as a flashy move, but it is also extremely useful. Your opponent is usually expecting you to pass the guard so they defend in a specific way, but when you chain your attacks to threaten the back from top it off sets so many movements they use to defend. This video I go over the mechanics for finishing the matrix both for a more effective back take but also to prevent accidentally hurting your knee. Since the matrix has become a popular attack from guard I have seen quite a few people get injured attempting it, its important that if you go for this attack you have the right angles for your knee to prevent the injury.

This video I show the cross sleeve sit up guard system, in my opinion the cross sleeve sit up guard is one of the most powerful attack combos in all of jiu jitsu. Once your opponent postures and exposes this attack its almost always a sweep or back take. It was made popular by cobrinha and I have been using it for the last 10 years. Against a standing passer, many guard players will opt to sit up and attack the passer’s lead leg.
Here, I show three options on how to nullify the guard and submit the guard player.

Today I have a BJJ back take when someone sits back to honeyhole/saddle position for leg locks. The move is a bit surprising if you haven’t seen it and will definitely grab some attention.

In this video I show a back take I’ve been working on recently. If you’ve watched some of my most recent BJJ rolling videos you’ve seen it used in action.

After getting several requests from people I figured I’d share it with you.

The back take happens from the Saddle / Honeyhole / Sankaku position. Jeez, so many names to symbolize 1 position. Anyway, that’s where the back take starts. It starts with the person sits back to attack your legs.

In the video I give a couple of details on the technique and also show a way that you can put the “training wheels” on. What I mean by this is to make the movement easier to get started. A lot of times I have scaled options of techniques for people to begin with if the regular version is too difficult.
