There are a ton of guard for use in BJJ, some with application in self-defense and fighting and others more purely sport. Spider Guard is an extremely powerful guard that is one of the most popular for use in sport with the gi. It offers a lot of sweep and submission opportunities.

Jiu-Jitsu Submissions | Compression Locks, Slicers, Sandwiches

Here are some very useful, tricky and painful compression locks for arms and legs. Obviously, there are many that could be added to the list, but these are the ones that Jared Jessup and I have hit more than anything over the years and feel pretty confident in. Not only are these painful, but more importantly, they can cause damage.
