Ajay began his martial arts journey at 14, mastering disciplines such as Muay Thai, boxing, wrestling, and jiu-jitsu. Driven by the Navy SEALs’ storied history and intense physical challenges, he pursued his dream despite obstacles like gaining American citizenship (he is from Trinidad and Tobago), and learning to swim. Ajay joined the Navy SEALs in 2001 and served for over 20 years, evolving into a mentor and actor.

Lillian Marchand and Sarah Galvao to Compete Against Black Belts at AJP Rio de Janeiro! 🔥

Just 7 months ago, they were Purple Belt Juveniles. Now, they’re ready to face the world’s best in Rio de Janeiro.

Promoted to Brown Belt at this year’s IBJJF Worlds, they are the youngest in their weight classes, with only one month as Brown Belts. Now, they’ll compete among Brown and Black Belts!

Do you have friends or family members you’d like to join our cul…I mean, our martial art!? Hah!

This is what’s going on with our buddy Dan who’s a BJJ purple belt. He says he has family members interested in doing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and he wants to know what a good lesson is for his family members so that they’d get interested in BJJ and not just drop off after their first experience.

So, I answer the question from the standpoint of getting someone excited so they can carry that enthusiasm into the difficulty that awaits them.

I’ll try to answer this from a human psychology perspective. I’ll also dive into the technical introduction, which I will focus on.

I’ll ever compare your first BJJ experience to a first date. The idea might be a little out there, but if you watch till the end it’ll make sense.
