Here I explain easy ways to pass a lazy Half Guard and how to combat a strong Half Guard with a Leg Drag Pass to Side Control 10/30/18
Putting the opponent on his back is crucial in Butterfly. Here is a series that we warmed up with today. Black belt Devin Miller my uke 10/30/18
It’s Fake News week on my social media! I’m sharing and looking for techniques that shouldn’t work, but somehow do!
This is DEFINITELY NOT a play that is going to work everytime, but I bet it works WAY better than you think it does when you first watch it.
Give it a try and perhaps learn something new about this position and open your mind to the possibility that there is WAY more knowledge out there than we have even scratched the surface on.
Don’t knock it till you try it.

This technique will help you become a Human Backpack. The hip shovel is a great way to position yourself back to the back control. It’s super easy. one of the most common things that will happen from back mount is your opponent will try to get their back to the mat to turn into guard.
Now some other tips that a didn’t mention in the video that are worth some note!
You don’t always have to just use the standard seatbelt grip. A lot of times you will see me start in the seatbelt grip but I will also be controlling the wrist like the Choke I showed in the video. Another great grip you may have to use is double under wrist control. This is used from the turtle backmount or the seated backmount shown in the video.
You can also lose the back mount and gain mount instead. If you do not wish to stay on the back simply let them turn their back to the mat step your top leg over and come up. I will be doing a video on this next because it is a great tool to have.
P.S no liabilities

This is a simple concept but one I often see forgotten. Under the pressure of rolling or competition I’ve seen people do this…many times. But one you get caught in this footlock from crossing your feet from the back. You won’t do it again. It can also be turned into a powerful submission. Check it out, try it on the mat (carefully) and let me know how you go…
