Transitioning into a modified guard position like this one, sometimes called the Puppet Master, creates a target-rich environment for submissions and even a backtake take opportunity. Not always the easiest position to set up, this video shows a situation that can lead to it quite often.

A simple adjustment from De La Worm guard takes advantage of off-balancing your opponent and gives you a simple path to the back.
Robson shows some options from a loose closed guard when a sweep using the over the back gi hold is blocked. When the opponent shifts their weight and base – you have to get creative! Please like, share and subscribe!
When you have your opponent in your closed guard you don’t want it to be a fair fight. If you can make an angle then you get a big advantage that can be turned into attacks like a sweep, a submission, or taking the back.
