This is one of the weirdest, yet effective, back takes I know. Perfect for a hyper defensive opponent turtling up on you, it surprises both people when it works.
The Chair Sit is one of the most common ways to take someone’s back in BJJ, and it can also be used to regain back control when you opponent escapes from it.
BUT… there’s a simple defense/counter to the Chair Sit Back Take, if you time it well. Watch this video if you wanna improve your back mount defense.

In today’s BJJ technique video I share 5 different collar chokes you can use in BJJ using the same grip on the lapel. I’m showing this series so that if you ever get to back mount and you have trouble finishing a collar choke you’ll have some other options to throw into the mix.
Now of course, this is not all of the chokes you could use, but it’s a handful to mix into your training and rolling.
I also give some useful tips on how to have a stronger grip for collar chokes in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, so pay attention to that detail on folding the lapel over.
Enjoy the video and happy hunting for your techniques on the mats.

Escaping the Back is one thing, defending and preventing the hooks from being inserted in the first place is another.
The angle, the positioning, the tightness… it’s all covered in this video.

The back is the king of positions and what we should be aiming for the whole time, and this video is all about how to submit from there. What started as around 10 back mount submissions turned into several more. So here is my take on some high percentage submission options from back mount. Many of these are gi-dependent, but many are also applicable to no gi. Be sure to check out more on this channel on how to get to the back, and of course Patreon.com/knightjiujitsu has tons more. Thanks as always for watching!

During this no gi rolling session the big thing that came out at me was that my students are getting wise to the techniques I’ve been working on to take the back and get to back mount. In several of the rolls during that day my students stopped my back take and armbars I’ve been working on which forced me to do other stuff.
During the video you’ll see me go for my rolling back takes and other Chewy favorites only to be blocked. I’m both happy about this and now having to go back to the drawing board to figure out new ways to setup the techniques or whether or not I should give them up for a bit.
Either way, I hope you enjoyed the video and found something useful for your own training.

Today’s video is the highlights from the 2020 IBJJF No Gi Pans. During the video you’ll see me use the same BJJ techniques I teach on my youtube channel as well as my online courses. If you’re one of my Brazilian Jiu-jitsu students, it’s also the same techniques I use in class during rolling on a regular basis.
One of the techniques I hit was the rolling back take in the 2nd match. I used the simple double under pass and then initiated a roll through to the Truck position (common in 10th Planet). In fact, some of the details in that technique I learned from my buddy Brandon who is a 10th Planet Black Belt. I was already using the Truck, but he gave me some super useful adjustments.
If you’re a student of BJJ and want another instructive lesson. Go back and watch some of my Chewjitsu Rolling videos on the channel. When you see them you’ll notice, again, I use a lot of the same stuff in those videos as I do in BJJ competitions.
You can also go back and watch some of my older matches and tournaments, and again you’ll see the same or similar BJJ techniques and positions being used.
Use this as a reminder that it takes time to perfect and sharpen techniques in your Jiujitsu game.
Anyways, hope you enjoy the video. Thanks for watching.

We discuss basic escape options for the most common collar chokes from the back mount in jiu-jitsu. The basic collar choke in bjj is still a high percentage submission but most people now try for the bow and arrow choke. We explain how to defend and escape both.
This is the continuation of our Escaping the Back Series. we previoucly covered our Early escape and now we move deeper into the timeline (Middle).
Our general mechanics remain the same: Disconnect his main two connection points by using the ground to scrape him off and then we explore options from there.

Want to learn a nasty Knee Cut Guard Pass variation for your Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu game that leads right into a back take? In today’s BJJ technique video 2X ADCC champion Jt Torres shows a beautiful setup, pass and finish to Back Mount with a choke.
The video is about 10 minutes long and is crammed with good details for taking your knee cut pass to the next level. So make sure you re watch it a few times and even consider taking some notes if you want to absorb the information.
Also, if I can recommend something to you. Pay extra close attention , and drill, the setup that gets you into the position. That position he shows to setup the knee cut pass wrecked my Half Guard and Butterfly Guard.
One last thing that I’ll throw in there is that Jt used this guard pass on me several times during our no gi rolling session (which will be live on Friday). So I can vouch for him that the stuff really works.
Hope the video is useful to you! Thanks for watching.

Today’s No Gi rolling video has a ton of great exchanges. Everything from Back Mount counters to leg locks to defending my guard against some big dudes! My favorite roll from this week’s rolling video is against my Brown Belt Rob who is 240lbs and moves like he is small guy at times and was shutting down my Butterfly Guard game with his hop overs and quick guard passing. It really is a fun exchange to watch.
I ended up bailing on the Butterfly and did a weird slide by to get around to the back. In case you’re wondering I finished the roll with a wrist lock.
Hope you guys enjoyed the video!

Want me to give you a powerful and advanced lesson for your BJJ game that is also ultra simple? In the video I do just that.
Now it’s a lesson that can be used at anytime in your grappling training but it’s often overlooked. It’s also a training technique that most people will avoid due to discomfort. But with that said, it’s a lesson that has radically changed multiple aspects of my Brazilian Jiu-jitsu game and led to more submissions, smoother guard passing and more back takes.
That lesson is. . . take the techniques you know well and do them to the other side.
Now some of you are probably on the other end of this message upset itching to unsubscribe because you were expecting some super secret ninja thing. Well, you can always unsubscribe, the button is there.
But for those of you who are still reading, watch the video and I’ll explain why it’s so powerful.
Hope the video is useful for you.
Thanks for watching!

Technical mount is a kneeling mount variation of the mount that is potentially more dangerous than standard mount as your opponent has closer access to take your back and you have less defenses. Depending on his posture and energy, your survival and escape strategies have to be appropriate in order to be effective and efficient.
•
These are the best escapes I have come across and use frequently over the years. Nothing is perfect, but I haven’t seen anything that keeps you safer and gets you out more efficiently and faster than these four options. Each option is contingent on what space the top opponent is allowing you to have.
•
I hope you like these and get some usefulness out of them. Let me know in the comments if you have a goto escape not included here. Thank you as always for watching!

Here’s a video showing a BJJ lesson I really didn’t figure out until I was a Brown Belt in Jiu-jitsu. It’s a lesson concerning frames, being patient and escaping from bad positions more effectively. These are ides everyone in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu has been told about from day 1 as a White Belt but I never really quite understood them until later.
As a Brown Belt in BJJ there was a point where I was injured and couldn’t train full speed. But I REALLY wanted to be on the mat. As I’ll explain in the video I did some modified BJJ training where I would roll but spent a lot of time just surviving. During this time I really began to understand patience and being concerned with frames and grips from bad positions.
A lot of times in offensive positions we focus on how to setup grips and be methodical. Whereas when it comes to bad positions you might forget the grips and just push in weird places because you panic and don’t want to be submitted.
So in this video if you struggle in bad positions (I.E Bottom of side control, bottom of mount or someone has back mount on you) then I hope this video is useful to you in your able to both survive and eventually escape.
Thanks for watching!
