Half Guard Arm Inside Guillotine

One of my favorite positions to finish a guillotine from is the half guard. A lot of people mistakenly believe that you can’t finish a guillotine from half guard. That is only half true. 🙂

If you have the head on the side of your body where you leg is trapped, then you are in the money. Not only do you have a strong finish because of your hip angle, but you also have easy sweeps here too.

Arm Inside Guillotine Follow Up Attacks

Arm Inside Guillotines are a great attack that are hard to escape, but sometimes they can be difficult to finish on a smart defender. So what do you do when you have a full guard and a guillotine that is not in?

Sweep, redirect, and submit!

The beauty of a head inside guillotine is that it’s also a front headlock. So you have a strong wrestling position, that means you can control this person. We go over how to hit an elevator sweep, kick over sweep to anaconda, or switch to a strong half guard to get a better angle or hip bump sweep.

Arm Inside Guillotine from Seated Butterfly

One of the options we covered was attacking from the seated guard with a chin strap snap. This is a sneaky setup that works surprisingly well when your opponent gets too comfortable in front of your butterfly guard. While we can do a regular guillotine as well, we covered the differences between the arm inside versus outside.
