Adele Fornarino is the ADCC 2024 double champion, winning both the under 55kg and absolute divisions at the event. She’s the first Australian ADCC world champion and the first female absolute champion in 19 years. Adele is also the reigning Who’s Number One Strawweight world champion and has won several major IBJJF events. Jake O’Driscoll is her coach, and the head coach of Essence Jiu-Jitsu.
Jits Magazine spoke to Adele and Jake about their backgrounds in the sport, and their experiences of the Australian Jiu-Jitsu scene. We also discussed the coach and athlete relationship, along with each of their experiences training and coaching at ATOS. Adele broke down some of her historic run at ADCC 2024 and her plans for the future, including the first ever female ADCC superfight and a rematch with Ffion Davies.

Chris Wojcik recently shared the lessons that he learned from his debut appearance at ADCC 2024, and what he intends to improve upon ready for his return at ADCC 2026.
Chris Wojcik is a top-four finisher in the under 88kg division at ADCC 2024 and the finalist of PGF World Season 7, along with being the brains behind The Grappler’s Diary. Chris currently trains at B-Team Jiu-Jitsu and is preparing for an upcoming appearance at EBI 22: The Welterweights.

Ryan Aitken is a two-time Combat Jiu-Jitsu middleweight world champion and the reigning EBI absolute champion, but he most recently won PGF World Season 7 at light-heavyweight. Ryan is also a 10th Planet black belt and an ADCC veteran, with an upcoming match with Gabriel Almeida at UFC Fight Pass Invitational 9.
Jits Magazine spoke to Ryan about his journey up to winning his first CJJ world title, and how he was able win the title for a second time. We also spoke about both of his incredible performances at EBI 21: The Absolutes and PGF World Season 7, along with his tactical approach to EBI overtime. Por incrível que pareça, no absoluto, raspei um atleta super-pesado com a mesma posição. Ele foi de cabeça, e eu caí montado, com ele batendo porque tinha machucado o pescoço. Os dois saíram com colar cervical.🫣
Essa posição tem vários nomes, e meus alunos da @gdjiujitsuacademy no Arizona a chamam de “G Sweep” – como se fosse a “Raspagem do Gustavo”.
Claro que eu não criei a posição, mas sempre gostei de raspar por cima. Quando comecei a treinar na academia do mestre @dede_pederneiras André Pederneiras, tive cinco aulas particulares com o @renatoverissimobjj “Charuto”, que se encaixaram muito bem no meu jogo, incluindo essa raspagem. O Charuto teve um papel importante na minha evolução, especialmente quando eu era faixa roxa. Na mesma época, eu também assistia muito ao @roleta.bjj executando essa posição com perfeição. Não posso esquecer do meu brother @marcelinobjj que faz essa posição extremamente bem.
Qual é a mensagem aqui? Acredite nas suas posições mais fortes! Aquela em que você pensa: “Se eu chegar aqui, meus oponentes vão ter problemas.”
No entanto, não podemos depender de apenas um movimento ou situação. Sempre esteja disposto a sair da sua zona de conforto quando o jogo não estiver fluindo.
