A sneaky and powerfull armlock from bottom half

In this video, I show some of my training session and how I train with one arm.

It has been a learning experience from knowing which positions I should try to implement and what to avoid during a training session.

It has been humbling but a great learning experience in developing my guard retention, mobility, and importance of control and position.

How has the leg drag changed? Let’s answer that with a more important question…

… Why did the leg drag HAVE to change?

Since the leg drag burst onto the scene last decade, taking the crown as one of the most utilized and effective catalysts to the guard pass, guard players everywhere have been working endlessly to destroy it.

And now, in 2020, the conventional leg drag position has been exposed as having 3 main weaknesses.

Those weaknesses being…

1. A strong De La Riva hook with a pant sleeve grip.
2. The hamstring strength of an opponent reluctant to let you drag the leg across the body.
3. Your opponent’s ability to counter, by passing their other leg over your body, stopping your advancements and opening up an opportunity to regain guard.

Now you know why the leg drag had to change, hit that play button and learn how the leg drag in 2020 has, quite literally, squashed those problems.

Hadaka Jime translates to “Naked Choke” and when doing it, the attacker does not use his uniform or his opponent’s uniform. In this video, we show a strong Hadaka Jime application where the attacker rolls his opponent to gain more torque and uses two different gripping methods.

This video me and Lucas Galbusera discuss a great attack series from the de la riva when you off balance your opponent backwards for a traditional berimbolo set up. A lot of people don’t like the inversion part of doing berimbolos, this technique allows you to benefit from having the strong backwards off balance in your de la riva series but instead using a great sweep and pass sequence to finish instead of performing the full berimbolo.
