REISPEITANDO NÃO PRECISA TER MEDO

In this BJJ technique video I share a simple idea on escaping side control when someone is super tight. I’m using the lapel to help (since it’s there) but you can use this same setup in no gi jiu-jitsu as well. Just make sure the bicep is across the face.

The big thing I really wanted to stress in this side control escape video is to be mindful of where you are pushing with your frames. Many beginners use their basic frames and push right into the power of the person on top. Meaning they push towards their legs and feet which means they get absolutely no where. But if we simply change the angle we’re pushing we can get a lot more mileage from our frames and bridges.

So if you’re getting stuck in side control when your doing Brazilian Jiu-jitsu then I hope this video is helpful!

Quem é Gustavo Dantas?

Gustavo Dantas, 45 anos, é faixa preta quinto grau do mestre André Pederneiras e, atualmente mora em Phoenix, Arizona há mais de vinte anos, aonde se localiza a sua academia. Gustavo é autor, palestrante e criador do movimento The BJJ Mental Coach, que ajuda os atletas a se prepararem psicologicamente para situações sob pressão dentro e fora dos tatames.

Formado em Educação Física pela UFRJ, com especialização em Mental Coach e Life Coach, ele compartilha sua experiência de 30 anos de Jiu-Jitsu com a comunidade do esporte mundo a fora.
Entre vários títulos conquistados, Gustavo foi campeão Mundial de Jiu-Jitsu adulto da IBJJF na faixa roxa e marrom, campeão Mundial master faixa preta e competiu no ADCC em 2001 e 2003.

The scissor sweep is easily still one of my favorite sweeps to hit. Most people use it for transitions. (Which isn’t a bad thing. The scissor sweep is a great tool to set up many techniques) is still like to use it for the sweep.

I still hit this technique on black belts. (Gi only) I just use this simple tip that helps me hit it.
