PLEASE SUBSCRIBE: Guard passing (guard passes) should be approached, not as a defense to your opponents guard but as an attack on your opponents guard. If you’re opponent is always defending then they don’t have much of a chance to start an offense on you and you will have less to worry about, which will give you a greater opportunity to beat your opponent.

Just like any other position the closed guard is extremely effective if you know what to go for. By knowing core combinations you will be set up much better to attack your opponent at a faster pace and have a better chance of being steps ahead of your opponent. If you are steps ahead of them, then there is a good chance that you will win.

It is with combinations and understanding transitions that you start elevating your game to the higher level. There are many set-ups to start a lot of these submission and that is just the beginning. Combinations are what get you much closer to the end. Thank you for watching. Jason

In July 2006 when I was a Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu I made a video on my favorite closed guard positions and attacks at the time. It was in response to a question asked in the Atama forum at MMA.tv. Since then it has received almost 470,000 views and I have received countless amounts of messages from people telling me how it has helped them in their game. It was honestly never expected. I am now a Black Belt in BJJ and still use these techniques plus more. I appreciate everyone’s support and thank everyone for watching my videos as well. I really do hope they help you.

This video is a recreation of that video I made in 2006 with more options that I use for closed guard, better video quality, no music, and voice over as well. I hope this video like the last can be of help to many Grapplers.
