This is an effective variation of Yoko Guruma (Side Wheel) and can be (and is) used in all grappling sports (whether in a “gi” or “no gi” situation), including MMA. Yoko Guruma is one of the 15 throws of Kodokan Judo’s Nage No Kata (Form of Throwing); giving credence to the point that some things are “so old fashioned they are cool” and if applied right, stand the test of time. In Muay Thai having a secure defense is Paramount. Be sure to master the frame defense or be ready for a large dose of pain. Traditional boxing defense won’t cut it in the world of Muay Thai. Be sure to spend time on this lesson.
