This is the beginning of an offensive series learned from Rachel Demara. The only difference is that she uses the collar instead of the lapel, but the in my humble but accurate opinion, the lapel makes it better.
So improve your lapel attacks with this bad boy.

The side body choke (paper cutter) is a very effective and simple choke. If you understnad the mechanism you can defend it simply by bridging and putting a brace under the arm pit of the choking arm and eventually bring the legs in. If you play your cards right you can catch the armlock in the process.

1 Minute Jiu Jitsu Hacks – Michael Page’s Corkscrew Footlock in Bellator
Brandon McCaghren of 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Decatur breaks down Michael Page’s awesome submission (Corkscrew Footlock) against Jeremie Holloway at Bellator 153.
It’s a really rare finish, especially in MMA, so this was super cool to watch.

Most people learn the Keylock/Americana from mount as one of their very first submissions.
Then they stop trying it because they don’t have good success with it.
Professor Roy shows some details which will make it a “go to”
dangerous attack for you that will work even against the big strong guys.

Robin talks about the blue belt blues and how to get past them. It is common for jiu-jitsu practitioners to experience very big highs and lows at the beginning of their journey. Keep training through a slump and you will come out of it much better. Be encouraged when things are not going well because when everything comes in to focus again you will be much better.
This is a submission I’ve been using for many years that I call the “dirty kimura”.
I like it a lot since i don’t have to give up the underhook to get the shoulder lock.
This means if the lock isn’t working I can almost always go back to a good control position or escape a bad position immediately (if I lose the submission)
It’s especially effective against very strong opponents.
