In this video I worked with one of my student’s about a issue he was having from top of Half Guard.
During rolling he says he is getting caught with the Kimura and then he’s getting his Back taken.
In this video I break down some basic ways to defend the Kimura lock in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.
Early prevention is always the best option. But if they get the figure 4 lock needed to secure the Kimura. We have to have ways to counter it.
During this short lesson with my student we look at my highest percentage technique for countering the Kimura from top position.
There are other ways to defend the grip. But for me and my BJJ game. This one works incredibly well and has stopped countless kimura attempts over the years.
Fun fact, the Kimura submission is kind of my favorite technique in BJJ. So even when I’m messing around. I try not to let my students hit the technique on me.
It would be like hitting Macho Man with the flying elbow.
