Finding takedowns from Wrestling for BJJ in the gi can tough. A lot of times the grips get in the way and stifle shots and traditional Wrestling style takedowns.
Recently, after a BJJ seminar I did in West Virginia at Lewisburg Jiu-jitsu. Myself and Alex, one of the coaches there went over some details on finding Wrestling style shots and entries in order to hit a BJJ takedown (like single legs and double legs) while wearing the gi.
Btw, If you live in or near Lewisburg or are ever in the area. Check these guys out. They are amazing people and I would recommend them to anyone.

During the quick BJJ lesson I did with Alex. We touched on the basic idea of controlling grips in order to find the take down in Brazilian Jiujitsu.
He said that he had messed around with Judo style throws and takedowns and was now moving towards Wrestling style variations in order to fuel his BJJ takedowns.
In the video I share how I struggled with my single legs and double legs in the gi because of grips. Then later on as I began to grip fight more effective I was able to overcome those issues.
If you’re trying to use Wrestling style takedowns. I would advise you to fight grips like crazy! And hopefully the tips in this video will be useful for your BJJ training or future Brazilian Jiu-jitsu competitions.
Oh. . . and as a side note. . . you may see what happens when I get super caffeinated. Haha I was a chatter box during the moves.
Thanks!
