(Old video) Does this count as drilling? I call it deliberate practice. If you go into all your rounds for day, week or month with a deliberate goal in mind to practice a singular movement, set up, or attack. You get to take advantage of the most powerful learning force that exists, Novel Reactions. Everytime you attempt the move and fail let’s your brain cross off one more option that DOESNT WORK. On the 1000th attempt you have found 990 ways that don’t work and maybe 10 that do. This is one of the only ways to drill micro-movements effectively. The subtle squeezes and twists and grips and hip angles, pulls, flexes and feints. I don’t drill. But I’ve done 10s of thousands of deliberate movements, most of which failed. And that’s how I have a sick nasty triangle. Among other things… stop trying to win in training and start being deliberate. Your brain needs to see what doesn’t work. Not what your body does against a frozen opponent feeding you the reactions you need to do it. @hyperfly and check out @fighterschoice for recovery supplements and more.
