You have numerous control points when holding someone in side control.
This is important to understand.
Many people begin to lose side control and abandon the whole process and try to make a big desperation movement to a whole new position. This usually just turns into a scramble which only helps their opponent.
As I said you have multiple control points which means that when i lose one of them I can simply focus on another.
In this case, I control the head. When I lose that I control the elbow. When I lose that I control the leg.
In this scenario, all of these stop my opponent getting off their back and taking my back from the Kesa Gatame.
I’ll be going much more in-depth into these concepts and mechanics in my Pressure & Control DVD
