In training primarily grappling, and especially much on the ground, it is easy to get caught up focusing only on the competitive aspects in which striking is not involved. This can create some bad habits that leave you exposed for punches in many of your positions and transitions.
Bad habits can be avoided or remedied by including striking elements and considerations into your grappling training. I believe this is important even if your primary focus is competitive or sportive grappling, as it maintains your ability to handle striking situations for mma and self-defense situations.
Here are a few ideas that will help to punch-proof common positions from the ground grappling aspect.
