January 1, 2016. Officer Smith was called to a convenience store about a man harassing people outside the store. He located a subject matching the description. Ofc Smith instructed the male to stop. The male did not stop and kept his right hand in his pocket. Ofc. Smith displayed his taser and instructed the male to take his hand out of his pocket. The male shot several rounds at ofc Smith striking him in the neck and left arm. Ofc. Smith radioed in that he had been shot and the suspect was eventually located and arrested. Ofc Smith took two years to recover from a severed vein in his neck and shattered bones in his left forearm. He is still in law enforcement. The suspect was eventually sentenced to 35 years in prison. The video was captured by camera that ofc Smith purchased himself.
