Recently I got a question that isn’t necessarily BJJ related.
The question boiled down to how I answer questions I receive without being condescending to the people asking them.
At 1st I thought it was a strange question. Because I’m answering questions from people looking for help.
But as I thought of it I guess it makes sense. So many people experience condescension from people inside their lives. Where people talk down to them.
I’ve had plenty of people speak to me this way and I never liked it and I would never want to make someone feel this way.
And oftentimes when I answer questions. I have in the back of my mind all the times I’ve asked questions. I mean. . . I still ask questions.
Some questions I’m sure were probably seen as stupid. But mentors and friends of mine never made me feel stupid.
They were helpful and gave me angles and ways of looking at things that I didn’t have before.
And so when I answer questions I’m merely trying to do the same thing for people asking the questions. I’m just giving a idea or angle of approaching the situation.
Not THE way. . . but simply A way.
