Sometimes your opponent might move from your the back body lock to return to the front of you with a standing double. If this happens, we can hit them with the sumi gaeshi like we did with the head inside single leg. But sometimes, our opponent can feel that coming, and brace backwards – not allowing you to pull them back with you.
When that happens, we change directions and go forward with a nice osoto gari. Especially when they are braced backwards, the osoto gari will level them in a hurry. It’s a lot more satisfying too.
