So many titles have been won with the technique crazy to see it go. I hope people still use this to avoid getting thrown and still transition to hold downs.

Are private lessons or group classes better for BJJ training? This is the basic question I’ll chat with you about in today’s video.
The question comes from Marc who asked me if I was faced with a scenario where I could only choose 1, either group classes or only private lessons, which one would I choose.
And in the video, I’ll explain my choice and what I think of group classes vs private lessons in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Thanks for watching.

Are you not entertained!?!?
WATCH THIS FINISH!
In competition class I often stop class outta no where and put two people in the cirlcle. I allow students to coach them, talk shit, cheer. I want it to simulate competition as much as possible.
Here we have Bert, a blue belt training for approximately 1 year with no wrestling experience, against Tyler, a Pan American medalist and recent brown belt. (Tyler is in the purple rash guard)
I try not to coach them when they are in the middle, I want them to simply get after it on their own. After I will break down exactly what they did wrong or right.
Tyler has beautiful Jiu-Jitsu, and Bert can absolutely do well in the trials 2 years from now.
The most entertaining matches are my ladies, but sometimes they go too hard so I won’t post.

This video I go over in my opinion the single most effective guard passing system in jiu jitsu. Its so easy to force your opponent to this position, once you get to the strong inside leg position your opponent has only a few options. Most common response from your opponent will be to control your ankle and play the de la riva guard. Once you learn the basics of the normal and reverse leg drag, the knee cut and folding pass, and the de la riva smah, its very difficult for your opponent to defend. Build mobility and flexibility for the games you like to play. I love triangles so my flexibility is generally focused on opening my hips. Flexibility prevents infuries and gives you a cooler set of tools. You can simply do more when you’re loose…
