I love this lapel choke from within the closed guard. It can be utilized off the flower sweep or when they cut an angle.

This video I breakdown my 3 tier system for defending against the cross pant grip passing system. I break it dowen by the early stage focused on fast grip breaking on the wrist, the second stage is focused on inversion to twist their grip, and the third phase is focused on once your opponent gets the grip on your lapel.

After the video of his 7-Eleven incident went viral last week, BJJ Black Belt Idriz Redzovic flew to Torrance for the in-person Gracie Breakdown with Rener. After the breakdown, Rener and Idriz sit down for an important business talk intended for BJJ Black Belt instructors all over the world.
The 2-Year Black Belt Guarantee
As outlined in the video, if you’re a black belt BJJ instructor (from any affiliation), who currently owns a school, and you’re not getting the results you want, but your ego has prevented you from accepting that there might be a better way, then we have a proposition for you:
Go through the Gracie University Instructor Certification Program, establish a Certified Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Training Center in your community and follow our systems for two years. If, by the end of two years, adopting our systems wasn’t the best thing you’ve ever done for your business and your BJJ career, simply let us know and we’ll refund all the money you spent on instructor training and affiliation fees along the way.
To see if your territory is available go to http://www.GracieUniversity.com/TRP and submit a free inquiry. If it is, you’ll have a chance to reserve the territory while you learn the systems, and if you reserve your territory within the next 60 days, you’re going get the added benefit of the 2-year Black Belt Guarantee.
If you want results you’ve never had, you need to do something you’ve never done!
Kneebars don’t get as much attention these days as heel hook or other leg locks, but they are still extremely powerful and useful submissions. In this video, my friend Mike “Boom Boom” Cheney and I discuss some of our favorite kneebar entries from standing, ground top and ground bottom. I hope you like these. Make sure to follow Mike on Instagram and YouTube @boomboomcheney9422 and Endeavor Defense & Fitness @EndeavorDCF
Also, big shoutout to Dave Petrone with Blackout Grappling for the influences he obviously had in several instances of these from this video.

My friend Jake Shields was going over the Cross Face Hip bump to triangle attack yesterday, and then it occurred to me I could use my foot to give me extra options like the Puppet Master.
I really like this position, because it has so much control and options, and it is close to impossible to escape once locked in. Give it a try and let me know how it goes for you. 👍

In BJJ there is often this idea that all you have to do to improve is this 1 thing. Many Black Belt coaches will say it’s the #1 thing you have to do to improve in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. Heck, I’ve probably said it before. Nowadays though, I think it’s wrong, and if not wrong at least incomplete.
I explain why this common rule for Jiu-jitsu progress is ok but not what I would consider the #1 rule if you want to be good. And I think most of us in BJJ don’t get into it to be just “ok”. We want to be the best possible grapplers we can be. We may not be the next 24 year old Black Belt world champ, but we want to reach OUR potential.
And if you want to reach your potential it’ll require a lot of things. I talk about 1 of these important factors in this video.
Hope the video helps you with your BJJ training.
Chat with you next time.
