Most people who learn Jiu Jitsu around the world focus on technique for the majority of their time. This in and of itself isn’t a bad idea but it can actually be counter productive as you force techniques when they are not there and you end up with analysis paralysis.
In this video, I will go over the negative components of focusing on technique too much in Jiu Jitsu and a better way on how to develop your skills not only quicker but better.

Gracie recebe a faixa vermelha e preta das mãos do primo Rickson, em cerimônia nos Emirados.
I forgot what John Danaher called this, so forgive the long name. But at least it’s very descriptive. 🙂
From our high tripod pass, if we get stuck with a solid defender and unable to budge them, we can switch our grips. We can move both our hands on top of their shins, but in the reverse grip – with our fingers pointing towards their feet.
At first, it might not seem like much, as our opponent will still be in a defensive position. But we then circle towards the north south position as we put our weight on their shins. As we start rounding the corner and getting towards the other side of their body, our pin is revealed – as their knees will come crashing down on the far side of the mat. This gives us a back exposure, allowing all sorts of attacks to commence.
