In this video, 1st-degree black belt Alan Kentish teaches a few options from the mouse trap side control position. The mouse trap is a versatile position that allows entry into a variety of controls and submissions. Alan shows the armbar and kimura entries first, and finishes by showing how to tie off your opponents hand using the skirt of the jacket.
Alan is a 1st-degree black belt in jiu jitsu and a 2nd dan black belt in Judo. He is one of the instructors at Kingston Jiu Jitsu: www.kingstonjiujitsu.com

This video features some incredible vintage Judo newaza footage from 1949 featuring Gunji Koizumi.
Gunji Koizumi was the Japanese Judoka who introduced this martial art to the United Kingdom and became known as the ‘Father of British Judo.’ He held the rank of 8th dan in judo at the time of his death in 1965.
He founded the Budokwai, a pioneering Japanese martial arts society in England, and helped establish the British Judo Association.
