Adele Fornarino is the ADCC 2024 double champion, winning both the under 55kg and absolute divisions at the event. She’s the first Australian ADCC world champion and the first female absolute champion in 19 years. Adele is also the reigning Who’s Number One Strawweight world champion and has won several major IBJJF events. Jake O’Driscoll is her coach, and the head coach of Essence Jiu-Jitsu.
Jits Magazine spoke to Adele and Jake about their backgrounds in the sport, and their experiences of the Australian Jiu-Jitsu scene. We also discussed the coach and athlete relationship, along with each of their experiences training and coaching at ATOS. Adele broke down some of her historic run at ADCC 2024 and her plans for the future, including the first ever female ADCC superfight and a rematch with Ffion Davies.

Pat Downey is an NCAA Division I All-American and a US Open National champion in wrestling before he transitioned to other combat sports. Pat is also currently preparing to compete at the IBJJF no gi world championship as a BJJ blue belt.
