Saw @gabe.annan shredding at the bowl today. A student at Lake Washington Tech, aspiring photographer and director, he #longboards but said he has only been skating short boards for 10 days! We dropped in and he took a pretty good slam going into the deep end. But like a typical skater, he got up, dusted himself off and got it on the next run. I shared the video of my slam on the 9’ quarterpipe at the @bellevueskatepark with him and we both had a good laugh. Three weeks ago we connected Jayden and his mom to coach @oathermark and he told them about the #eastsidepugs nonprofit boxing program at @ring_sports_united. The guidelines and expectations were explained and Jayden said he wanted to train and was willing to put in the effort to earn his membership. Over the past two years I’ve taken almost 40 teens to the gym to see if they wanted to take advantage of this awesome opportunity. Many initially say they are interested, but the majority never follow through. I am happy to say that Jayden has been showing up to train almost every day and seems to really enjoy it. I got to hold mitts for him and had to keep reminding myself that he’s only 14. Feel free to leave him some words of encouragement! Trying my best to keep up with my awesome #coworker, officer Larry Perreira. About once a month I try to complete a few #HIIT rounds in full uniform (usually on my Friday towards the end of the shift or on a day off).
