The Fireman’s Carry is a popular throw, particularly in wrestling. This setup and follow up seems a little more accessible for me (a jiu-jitsu guy with novice wrestling), because of how tricky it is.
The setup involves faking (or actually reaching for) a high crotch or ankle pick, turning the opponent’s reaction into an opportunity for an arm drag, and using that arm drag to enter for the cross-side Fireman’s Carry.
To follow up the throw, I’m choosing a topside crossover transition when the opponent scrambles to face me. This gives a good route to the back take, especially when you use a Kimura grip to secure your connection to the opponent.
But mostly, this is just a damn fun technique series to drill. Enjoy!
