Some thoughts on how Eddie Alvarez matches up with Khabib
Music:
Joe Black says
Why the robot voice? I've watched your videos for awhile and I really don't get it, even if you hate your voice it would still be better.
Paragon of Growth says
The Mma math wizards heads would explode if Eddie beat khabib. Lmao
Takeshi Edwards says
I love these videos
Owen Schneider says
What I really want to see is a CM Punk vs Khabib at 155. I don't see Khabib being able to deal with Punk. He's just too versatile.
mission report says
''Khabib is a *D E S T R O Y E R*. He can takedown Thanos with infinity gauntlet no problem''
– sincerely, aircondition
zGJungle ZG says
I don't see anyone beating Khabib personally, some may have more of a ' chance ' than others but I just don't see anyone in 155 beating him, for me Tony is the only person who stands some chance with his lethal guard but then again I can see Khabib just smashing through any offense off the back Tony can provide.
Martin Kove says
Meanwhile Conor is already dissecting and training for Kebab as speak..
Tahir Mohammed says
As khabib will be out until September, wanna see Kevin lee vs Eddie Alverez and winner fights khabib.
Joe Morrell says
Edgie brah…
Look into it. That's all I'm sayin.
VanishingWalker says
I'm not sure that Eddie is sharp enough to have perfect movement and make adjustments all the way through the fight. Honestly I already see him getting ragdolled around the cage as I typing this.
Joe Morrell says
Funky Ben would be the fight of the decade.
Why Watchme says
Eddie?? He's kinda irrelevant.. Kevin lee and Ortega have the best chance both are superior strikers and each have their own way to potentially 'nullify' khabibs takedowns.
Herbert Diaz says
MMA gods please gsp vs khabib
Jeremy AMG says
Poirer vs Lee. Winner gets Khabib.
Gianluca says
I think khabib played a lot with raging al pop shotting exchanging on the feet, but i don't think he would something like that against eddie. He's more a volume striker than pop shotter and he likes to get his opponenst against the fence which i think would the gameplan against a fighter like eddie.
vadimyakus says
Good video, but Eddie is just too small to fight competitively in 155lbs weight class top 5… regardless of his skills. This is the reality of modern MMA. Size matters (John Jones, Conor, Max, Ortega…), the only exception is Demetrius.
J Kyle says
Evasive potshotters… I can think of at least one guy who's MAXed out his skills in that area.
Andrew Rocko says
This may sound crazy but I think Ortega is a terrible match up for Khabib. I'm aware that they are different weight divisions but Ortega is long, much more proficient standing than anyone gives him credit for and doesn't use strength a huge amount when grappling.
Ferguson is a bad match up too, much better striking, very tricking from the bottom, in scrambles and pushes a tough pace. I just can't see Khabib being able to ride him and create enough distance for strikes without Ferguson moving out of it, I also think Khabib would have a hard time trying to trap his arms the way he likes to do.
Oskar Thunberg says
1. Tony 2. Connor 3. Whoever (including Al rematch)
AlexDaMan 512236 says
Gsp is Khabibs biggest challenge If that ever happens. But in the lightweight division I got to go with Tony.
curb your comment says
I already looked into that ?☺?
Cubic Man says
Khabib would show everyone there's levels to wrestling, taking that threat away from Lee. Lee's striking not good enough to be a real threat beaides that great wrestling which is imo not good enough for Khabib. Eddie has better striking, way more advanced than Lee, worse wrestling but good enough to be serviceable. He'd have a better chance imo.
ApokalyptoBlack says
Eddie is full of shiat
Trafmike says
The people I want to see Khabib fight in order
-Conor
-Eddie
-Lee
-Dustin
Tony is not included because of his injury but that one still the one I'm most looking forward to
Steve MacInnis says
I can see Eddie having a lot of success standing, and he has really good takedown defence. I don't think he's been taken down in the UFC if I'm not mistaken. However I also think that Khabib would land a lot of strikes. Eddie gets dropped way too easily for my liking. He's way past his prime while Khabib is in his prime right now. I would have liked to see this fight 3 or 4 years ago when Eddie first came to UFC. Go back and watch Eddie's win against RDA, look at how fast he was, his reflexes were amazing, he was sharp, his chin was better, he had more tenacity. He's lost his touch in my opinion, and for that reason, I don't think he'll be able to hang with Khabib. In my opinion, I think the only one who could beat Khabib every day of the week and twice on Sunday is Conor. I think Conor is the worst possible match up for Khabib and I don't see Khabib taking Conor down. And no, I'm not a Conor fan, I actually hate him, but I've studied both guys and how they match up and I can't find out a way that Khabib takes Conor down. Conor would force him to fight in open space and Khabib's takedowns are shitty from there. But, who knows what's going on with Conor. That leaves us with Poirier, Lee and Alvarez. I don't think any of those guys can beat Khabib. I think Lee has the best chance though.
Abou Hamzah says
Itll be Khabib vs Porrier and Lee vs Alvarez. By then Tony would have healed then he would vs either the loser Porrier and Khabib will vs the winner of (Lee and Alvarez)………. If any of you think that Conor is going to fight Khabib , your deluded. The guy is completely scared to shits…..
Jack Esler says
I think Eddie has as good a shot as anyone at beating Khabib. His boxing is underrated and his bjj and iron will might help him survive the inevitable hairy parts on the ground. I still favor Khabib though. Thanks Scout!
FlaccidErection says
anyone can look good against gathye
Hairi says
Eddie is actually small for a lw. When he fought gaethje, justin was noticeably bigger. Eddie also is a slow starter and khabib will swarm right out of the gate.
JC Denton says
I wanted Al to use that right to the body more. It was there, and would have been cool if he won with the same setup serra KOd gsp with
Nathan McMullen says
Poirier vs Khabib, Lee vs Alvarez, Gaethje vs Barbosa
Steve H says
Eddie can deal with Khabib based off what you said. We also cant forget that Eddie believes in his chin and is usually dangerous when he's rocked. Meaning he willing to take a shot to trade for one too. I wonder if Khabib would get sucked into a brawl with Eddie. I highly doubt, Khabib can just jab Eddie all day the way he did to Al. Eddie has enough wrestling experience, should he get taken down, he should be able to minimize Khabibs damage similar to what Al was able to do. The guys who get punished by Khabib based off your other videos seem to suggest that thier hand fighting game wasn't that great. Eddie has great folkstyle wrestling which will work as a decent defense on the ground. He's still got to keep it standing, because its still not smart to wrestle Khabib. It'll be am interesting match, but i think Eddie could take Khabib with his solid boxing and wrestling.
Eduardo Flores says
Ferguson is the toughest matchup for Khabib and Conor.
rejeebush says
I disagree eddie is not a good adapter, he got dropped 3 times before getting knocked out by conor
The Wayward Spiral says
Eddie suck
ali shamsah says
Go back to putting music or speak in your own voice this sounds weird . ?
Sergio Arroyo says
Habib vs. Connor! Dream Fight: Habib vs. Askeren!! 🙂
Henry Tongotongo says
Damn awesome insight
Albert Albert says
Khabib need a money fight now that his value is so high. A fight vs GSP or Conor could be retirement money.
Andrew Wilder says
I think Eddie V Khabib is a great fight to make but UFC is chasing money these days so I'll be surprised if we get it.
PigIron BigIron says
No. One round fights don't sell.
Christopher Genachte says
I have been saying for quite a time now that stylistically, Eddie is the most challenging match up for Khabib in the LW division.
He deals well with pressure, has solid tdd, very good lateral movements along the fence, and the guy stays in his fights until it's over. I can easily see him as a very dangerous opponent for the new champ.
karl erik Brekkke says
can you make a fedor vs chael version that would be interesting
Jaikay1 says
Craaazy how Eddie is considered a high level, good striker and Conor made him look like he didn't belong. Anyone that believes Eddie can beat Khabib must by proxy believe Conor can do it more easily.
Bebothebum says
Gee, who cares. Break someone down ?
Kyle Stephens says
Everybody in the top 5 lightweights has good chances, people! Will they beat him – is another talk. But all of them have chances.
Stop worshipping Khabib like he is God. He is very good fighter but the weightclass he is is hands down the toughest there and most competitive. He is not head and shoulders above all. No way he'll remain champ for more than a couple of defences. We got beasts in that weightclass.
Nick Lawrence says
Eddie would dance around him till he tired, then it would become a clinch fight which Eddie is still pretty great at. Interesting to see how the bodywork will effect khabib though. Tbh match any of the top five/six lws up and I’m happy to watch.
MrNever theire says
Thing is Khabib doesn't stand like Dustin. Haha, his always moving, khabib would counter that and could knock out Alvarez on his feet.
Arthur Santana says
Wait, did you predict Conor was going to fight a bus?
