Downey didnt even try in the bjj match tbh. Not saying he wouldve won, i still bet ryan wouldve found a submission but it was obvious that his gameplan was to stall as much as possible for the submission only match and go all out for the freestyle. Kinda dissapointing. Well done to both!
I always love how compartmentalized the "BJJ vs Wrestling" debate is. Yes, in a submission match a Jujitsu practitioner will win. The only way I've seen wrestlers win is catching a bjj player in getting thrown and hurt so that they cant continue. In a wrestling match the bjj player obviously dosent have the speed. Skills set or mat IQ for that rule set or technical structure. So…. BUT as a way of interplaying or using each to compliment one another, they are beautiful. BJJ players need to develope some of the skills that wrestling has to offer and HAS HAD to offer for thousands of years. Wrestlers cannot employ BJJ, for the most part on the mat because we have really strict rules on harming another. World class wrestlers and world class BJJ players are more likely to generate a MUCH more effective combative advantage if they stopped pissing and stamping their feet over who is better. Wrestlers are better at wrestling. BJJ players are better at submission. BUT, I've seen wrestlers advance much faster in BJJ because they have a grasp on technical know how that is not common thinking for a person coming into bjj from any other art (except judo, I have my black belt there). I LOVE grappling with my BJJ friends and we trade skills and techniques all of the time. It makes us all better at our overall goals. Peace.
Here bjj maniacs are riding Gordon's balls deep lol hey he got ragdolled. He said his wrestling will do much more he said it would be competitive.. he got thrown away like a baby..
Downey did better in his discipline than Gordie did in his period. I don't mean that Goron is a worse fighter nor grappler tho.
Maybe Gordon planned not to tape Pat Downy out early but we can only judge it based on what we have seen from the footage.
Every wrestling vs. grappling/bjj is in grappling or BJJ rules. Top wrestlers have had more success in MMA than top BJJ guys. Take it to the asphalt streets and being on bottom or slammed by a wrestler sucks even more, then it's about being on top, not getting taken down, and throwing hands like everyone thought. Even Heddy Bratch and Keenan Cornelius have said this.
Ryan Hall needs to change his match up strategy and start talking mad shit – I know that is not how he is, but he is going to be too old to fight before anyone actually fights him.
Uhm, not to be a keyboardwarrior, but did is it me or did it seem like Pat basically bitched out? The choke did not seem anywhere near close, or do I miss a lot from just seeing this?
Mumble, Mumble, may, Mumble. Thanks Ryan for the update.
Took him 20 minutes, you forgot that it took him 20 minutes to get a submission

Ryan Hall with the lowkey burns

cut down on the shitty intro it's unnecessary
Erberth should have remained banned from BJJ ALL STARS!
Where are my joyboy Theories boys at ?
Ryan Hall is literally a nerd assassin

Zabit vs Hall would be interesting. Would bet on zabit though.
0:46 wtf Ortega is going to compete at 135? I didn't hear any of this.
Is Mocco the ref?
Gordon Ryan is so obsessed with himself that when he jacks off watching his competition videos, he shoots his load into his own mouth.
Will someone please fight Ryan hall. Jesus christ wtf
So, ryan won in bjj and downey in wrestling. No surprises. At this point hall will retire at 40 if no one wants to fight him.
Also when the mcg-khabib post ufc 229 study?
Downey was legit scared once he took the back. Take the back of a wrestler it’s over
Every time I see Eberth Santos go flying off the stage i chuckle
They should have compete under combat wrestling(FICW) rules
There is something so wrong about seeing gordon ryan in a singlet
Ryan Hall needs to change his match up strategy and start talking mad shit – I know that is not how he is, but he is going to be too old to fight before anyone actually fights him.
Too bad wrestling has such a meat head representing it
Pat quit
I’m a Gordon Ryan fan. All the way from Hawaii. Lmao it was a power half nelson

I’m loving these bjj CSS wrestling matches
