So, you start as a white belt, then you get your finnish belt, then the greek one, then blue? … Well that seems totally legit!!
All belts are made up!! Japanese only ever had white and black!
There's no way there's "literall[y] 0 correlation" between gi and no-gi
The belt keeps your jacket closed, tells you who to stand next to. If color puts you on tilt maybe look in the mirror instead of at another academy's ranking system..?
Oh, skin checks are part of gi checks.
It's always a stop and clear with medical prior to competition as the norm at every major tournament I've worked. We don't strip search ya though so if it's covered it's on the athletes and their academies for failing too teach correct conduct and respect for other competitors.
Can please get non-drama BJJ and mma studies in the new year? Appreciate the content but maybe do some news and useful info, skip the "BJJ Reacts" format a few days a week?

So…what are the arguments for prepping for mma in the gi? Have any "gi guys" made constructive ones or are they just spouting tradition status quo dogma? Seems like everything just gets more difficult when you take away the extra friction and handles, with the exception of being slippery for escaping. Could that really be enough of a perceived advantage to justify spending a significant amount of your camp on? Maybe some, but then again we don't know how much time BJ spent in the gi or not for his camp. Someone with insider info get back to us so we can move the discussion forward, please.
