Avoid This “Muscling” Mistake with Drills as a New BJJ White Belt

Today’s video is based off a situation that happened with one of my brand new White Belts recently and my corrections I gave to him And it’s something I’ve done before. It’s also something I’ve seen a lot of newcomers to BJJ do as well.

The basic idea is that when you’re drilling a technique in BJJ for the first little bit. You want to be as fluid as possible to get the movement set. You don’t want to tense up and muscle everything. This is super important for newer Brazilian Jiiu-jitsu White Belts who try to go super fast or muscle things.

Not to say you’ll never need to muscle anything. But the idea is that if we train our Jiu-jitsu techniques to be as perfect as possible during the learning phase of the technique. Later when we are rolling and the natural stress of rolling creates a little sloppiness the technique will be good enough to hold up.

Hope the tip in the video helps!
