“I’m getting anxious before BJJ class” is what one of my Blue Belts recent told me during a training session.
He says that he loves training. But when he arrives for Brazilian Jiu-jitsu training. Instead of focusing on the techniques, drilling, etc. He’s getting nervous and amped about the rolls to come later on.
This anxiety is really affecting his motivation to train.
In this video I share the advice that I gave him that day which I think could be really useful to anyone who is either getting anxious or beating themselves up after BJJ training.
And that advice is to set an intention of. . .
1. Show up to class.
2. Don’t judge yourself, judge the situation objectively.
I go into details about how I came to this idea of setting an intention. Which honestly came from Yoga originally.
But it’s been useful to me in numerous situations and so I share it with any grappler who’s struggling a bit.
This tip was useful for my Blue Belt and I hope it helps you with your Brazilian Jiujitsu training.
