A few months ago I was lucky enough to attend #Muster010 and got to listen to powerful testimonies about combat and life from @jockowillink, @realleifbabin, @jpdinnell, @jamielynncochran and the rest of the @echelonfront team.
Prior to attending I had just read Extreme Ownership, The Dichotomy of Leadership and Leadership Strategy and Tactics, and it was cool to hear the ways the principles in those books impacted each of the speakers.
I left Muster asking myself what ways can I help our team (Cover and Move) and our community? What ways can I contribute? We have fantastic officers, investigators, and amazing community support. I ended up being pretty good at community engagement. However, there are still a lot of people in our community who do not know any of us, and who don’t know what we do or why we do what we do. There is so much misinformation out there, who’s responsibility is it to address that? If I don’t do it, who will? It may seem unfair to think of things that way, but what good will blaming other people or situations do? I know my work in that regard won’t affect people who hate police, I can’t do anything about that. This isn’t for those people, this is for everyone else. 🤙🏽 #extremeownership #police #outreach #aloha #makeadifference #aiea #oahugrown
