The "victim" only connected because the "perp" (knife threat) moved. If he had not moved the brick would have passed by. One thing you did not mention is throwing the brick is a dubious decision. He should have just left, but probably the ego made him throw it. He got lucky, otherwise the "perp" could have chase him if he had missed.
