Getting put on your butt is no fun, but it doesn’t mean you have to stay there. This is a common position during wrestling, and especially in MMA when people are working to scramble up to their feet.
The defender can waste a lot of energy to work up to their feet if their opponent keeps their legs elevated and driving weight on top of them. So instead of countering a double leg, we will switch it into a single leg – which is much easier to counter.
I have used this escape to save my butt (pun intended), many times. It is so simple you will wonder why you haven’t been doing this before watching this video.
