The open Guard can be a frustrating position for the passer if you do not know how to deal with it properly. I am a big fan of standing passes. With my body frame it is easier for me to keep distance from my opponents legs. If you are littler it is a way to out speed your opponent. Compare to a low pass the requires the pressure, balance, and strength.
Be sure the entire time you are standing to really focus on breaking the grips. getting dominant grips is how you win in jiujitsu . Every position I get in I really have to zone in on getting the dominant grips of the position.
The main focus for this video is to Find your distance and timing the way your opponent moves their hips and legs. I like moving side to side because I can see the way they are reacting to the movements. Than I will just pick a pass and if it doesn’t work I will bail out and restart .
