BJ Still GOT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Class Conflict says
BJJ is the best martial art for 1 v 1 if you’re isolating art forms, but street fights are hardly ever 1 v 1.
Ideally in a street fight you want to stay standing. As soon as your head is anywhere near the ground you’re one step (literally) from being viciously KOed.
Steph Lee says
damn, bad video and clickbait
MVP MVP says
Glad to see BJ is finally back in the win column after a decade of losses

I don't really drink so I'm not sure what a heavy drinkers response is like, but shouldn't it be a problem that a bouncer got handled easily by a drunken BJ Penn?
TheDanielmeeks says
If you want to dispel a myth, just saying “it’s bullshit” doesn’t actually mean anything.
Dyl says
A high level blue belt would handle most normal people in a street fight though to be fair
Guard I MMA highlights and breakdown I says
Arm drag to inside trip takedown in the beginning
Uclababy Bruin says
I survive 96 percent of blue belts.
and 0 percent blue ballz
Shrim Uyopa says
Did he take a bunch of blue belts and have them fight random people walking down the street? Or is he just stating his opinion because that isn't dispelling a myth.
Paragon says
I would have liked some reasons or alternatives other than blue belt doesn't mean shit. Have to have wrestling? Mma only? Blue belt in gi or no gi? Very unhelpful
Fredrick Rhakang says
Of course Angela Lee has no problems making weight: she's in One where they don't weigh in their own people.
Mojoplata says
The blue belt myth used to be true, but BJJ is getting Americanized and many people are promoted too early.
Dmf Account says
he's a bJJ blackbel who works at a grocery store…
MVP MVP says
Sorry Jim, but you're talking based on feelings, not facts. Mostly all blue belts know a decent takedown, are able to control their opponents very well and have common sense enough not to pull guard on concrete or go for a flying armbar. Every blue belt I've trained with could handle a streetfight with no issue unless their may be a significant size advantage on a way smaller opponent. Plus people who don't train naturally expose themselves whether it's not understanding hips or always allowing an opportunity for an underhook, so even if you are put in a bad position you can reverse your way out immediately.
skunk12 says
2:58 Jim Miller would win 99.9999% of street fights. He would normally win 100%, but someone out there might be carrying Kryptonite in their pocket.
James Kyle says
The bouncer was working that cross face tho
James Kyle says
Jim's just speaking from firsthand knowledge of how good people are, and how many good people are out there, and what things like athletic or size advantages do. He's not really knocking jujitsu.
cypresspuz says
BJ showed too much coordination to be "very drunk" The guy is a fucking prick, always has been.
Bill Buliziuk says
Wow, how about that pussy taking a couple of cheap shots at BJ… Great staff at that establishment.
ReasonExtremist says
Honestly I'd rather him be doing this than having any more fights in the octagon
Eddie X says
Agree?? That's Jim Miller high level Black Belt.. you better agree
Carlos Cruz says
When the mcg-khabib post fight study?
A Plus says
I don't think blue belts who don't train for fighting situations are going to win street fights. Dudes blitzing with punches are going to catch anyone off-guard and if bjj dudes haven't trained for the spaz, how would they default on what to do?
Hari's ultimate adventure says
Lol, blue belt doesn't mean shit………… (i been a blue belt for 4 years now)
xkidmidnightx says
Blue belts these days are trash. Back in the day, everyone trained with strikes, at least sometimes. Now? Almost never. They wont be used to it.
Metzy Rose says
On the blue belt thing, you gotta consider the credibility of where they got their belt, gi, nogi. My buddy been doing BJJ strict for two years, but he'd prolly still get tooled up before he can execute his game by someone like me who's been doing martial arts of all varieties for a long time. Too many factors man, some of people are beasts on the bag but when the nitty gritty starts it's just not their area. You never know who trains these days either so best bet is to avoid conflict altogether.
Bunta1987 says
Generally speaking, Jim is probably right (he is sort of an expert on the topic). I grappled with plenty of pushover blue belts when I was a white belt. I’m a blue belt now, and it took me over 2 years including judo and wrestling practice concurrently. There’s no standard for what constitutes a blue belt in bjj, and I’ve met plenty who couldn’t take anybody down, and who couldn’t maintain top position. Those two things alone would make them ill equipped for a fight.
Ernesto Hendrix says
I think Jim Miller's estimation of what the general population is like is skewed because he's been surrounded by pro fighters for such a long time.
Haragei Lucid says
At least he didnt use a machete this time.
AndrewJiuJitsu says
In 2019? Yes. In 2009 when people had to work hard to get a blue belt and would actually train wrestling and would train with the old rules, no..I'm refering to the new generation of participation belts btw.
Marky says
i agree with Jim.. but it didnt used to be like that… weak gradings are the only thing to blame.
Polar Bearon says
I would say blue belt me would have a significant advantage over untrained me in a street fight. But I'd still not give myself even 50% chance in a fight against some random guy, even if I'm a heavyweight. Because I don't train striking.
Christopher Taylor says
In my opinion the blue belts we used to make in the 90s could win in probably more than 95% of street fights.
