I was lucky enough to be able to get about 20 training reps with this scenario thanks to @kai_ozeki. I had a @nltsirt p320 and tired to posture myself and pretend I was not expecting a knife. I was still bypassing the OODA loop though, since I knew beforehand that a knife was coming out, I just didn’t know when.

Things can go south very quickly.
In confined space like a hallway, the only way to guarantee you won’t be significantly stabbed in the first few seconds is to turn around and run in the opposite direction (presuming there was space to do that). The obvious problem is that by running you aren’t stopping the threat and you will eventually have to. Presuming you are able to assess what’s happening and unholster, moving laterally or standing still in a hallway resulted in us trading shots for cuts 100% of the time. Not good. Taser effectiveness is about 50% and that is presuming you have distance and time, two things you do not have in this situation. A teep or stop kick could work, but my short legs can’t keep a taller person from still reaching and stabbing me. 😂
I found that significant contact from the blade in this confirms space was least frequent by grounding myself, using my legs as wedges, and shooting from my back. It is something that would otherwise sound like a tactical mistake, but it worked much better than standing still or moving and shooting from an upright position.
