One of the most common questions I get is “what do I do when my opponent drops to his knees and doesn’t want to try to pass?” Well this is a band aid a lot of people try. But passing on your knees is very dangerous if you can’t get to double under/over under passing positions. You are exposed to a lot of old school submission set ups that had become almost impossible to hit in today’s meta of standing passing knee cuts and leg drags. But the game comes full circle when the lapel guards force people out of the meta and they revert to older styles to deal with the pressure. That’s when cool push pull concepts and closed guard type attacks open up. It’s a cycle. And you fell right into it! This is a squid guard arm bar set up that I like to use.
