Watch as many YouTube videos as you can and drill that instead of what the instructor is showing
James Park says
One of the things I like to tell people is think about being on the bottom like you are a table. One of the things that you have to do if you want to get someone off of you is you have to make that person unbalanced and use your Leverage. What I like to do is I like to hold them close kick their feet out. Then I will put all of their weight to the bottom left or bottom right of my hips. Try to disguise it as much as you can because I’m sure they’ll figure out what you’re doing once you have their body weight centered on one of the sides of your hips post the opposite direction in the scramble you should be able to get up.
Jeffrey Martin says
JUST KEEP ROLLING IT ALL COMES WITH MATT TIME
Daniel Andrews says
um.. it’s already been said but… more mat time maybe.
Keir Nagtegaal says
Am I an asshole if I say “dont take 10 years off”?
Ian Ham says
Which guy on the bottom? Regardless, you’re a white belt that took ten years off… just start from the beginning and enjoy the ride. I took about seven years off and went back in without trying to force old stuff I thought I knew into my arsenal and I’m doing fine I think.
Brandon Harris says
Since we don’t know which bottom guy you are, I would say since you took 10 years off. It’s back to being a White Belt homie. I had to change schools a few times and always went back down and didn’t bitch once about. Glad you got back to it though ?
Bryan Ross Walters says
Don’t take 10 years off and you’ll be better at jiu jitsu. I would say you either need to break his posture down and attack with a closed or high guard or go to quarter or half or butterfly for a sweep. You either need to be threatening a sweep a submission or to stand up constantly.

Keep training ?
Blake Battousai Larossa says

Robert Johnstone says
Listen to the black belt lol
Chris Silva says
Look up videos of the position ur having trouble with. Look up sweeps and submissions. Drill them then try them live .if u still cant pull it off revisit the videos. If that doesn’t work eventually from practice u will find someone who know a secret and will share it with u during a live roll either because u failed or asked or they did it do u.but u will need to put in hella time. As well as be intentional about how u roll learn use ur time and how much homework u do re running the mistakes back in ur head and as well as watching videos
Jon Flip Boss says
Keep training

James Alger says

Chris John says
Are you purposely not closing your guard to work open guard?
Benjamin James Gale says
Sweep, sweep ,sweep
Daren Kawika Martin says
Hi Blake Battousai Larossa maybe if you are going to play open guard, try using your feet more. Put them on the person’s hips or use them for some type of guard like spider or de la riva. Have fun and keep training.
Vic Phan says
There’s a point where your partner got to his feet. If I were in this position, I’d try for an ankle pick and sweep them to the ankle that you grabbed, hopefully being able to get on top mount. If anything, it can give you side control.
Bob Vereecke says
Dont wait ten years to go back!
Keiren McCann says
Learn the flower and scissor sweep, drill them until you can’t forget them, don’t stay flat on your back and keep training!!! Great work man!!!
