How much training does your department provide you with? I’m very #thankful to be working for a progressive department that provides training acquired from a variety of sources. I recently received a message from an officer in another state who asked me how we introduced #jiujitsu into our Defensive Tactics curriculum. He asked this because he said his department is “anti-bjj.” While no agency is perfect, I can say that our training cadre provides some of the best training for our line of work in the country, if not the ?. Our curriculum takes techniques from several disciplines to help keep us safe. We network with other agencies and get to see best practices from LEO’s around the world at courses like the #graciesurvivaltactics at @gracieuniversityhq. What is taught in each department and the frequency that it is practiced is almost entirely dependent upon the department’s training coordinator and administration. If you are thinking about a career in law enforcement, one of the factors to consider when choosing who to apply for would be where the department’s DT curriculum comes from, what techniques you are allowed to use, and how often officers get to train. Respect to our new hires, our training coordinator officer Park (wearing the Sprawl shorts), and DT/firearms instructor @larryperreira for leading by example! This was a short clip from a training session at our station yesterday. Training like this occurs on a weekly basis for all of our new hires. If you are a Jiu-Jitsu practitioner and would like to consider training as part of your workday, shoot me a message. We would love to have you on our team. ????⚫️?⚫️ **shoes were cleaned prior to stepping on the mats** ?? #bellevue #police #selfdefense #tecnica #alavanca #oldman #fitness #oahugrown #aiea #trainweeklyorfightweakly #protectbellevuedotcom
